Literacy
My area of expertise is helping students develop strong reading and writing skills to become more self-directed, self sufficient thinkers. I am passionate about helping students discover their voice and becoming confident in their ability to express their ideas for a variety of purposes.
Mechanics
In my mechanics workshops (nicknamed Auto Shop) I explicitly teach about grammar, mechanics, and writing structures in a digestible way, so that students can be in the "drivers' seat" of their writing.
Authentic Voice
When creating writing assignments, it's not always about the academics! It's important to make space for play, expression, and authentic voice. That's why I love to teach poetry!
